Our new soccer player

So far, the most exciting part about playing soccer for Lucy is trying on the uniform.

She got decked out from head to toe at least three times before the first game.

During the game, she didn't have a clue what was going on, and kicked the ball in the wrong direction, but had a grin from ear to ear the whole time.

So did we, for different reasons.

Dairy anyone?

I guess you could say we like dairy products.

I was raised on skim milk, but once I started my babies on whole milk and tasted it, I realized what I'd been missing. So, I've settled for 2%.

Brad is the only one who drinks skim, opting to save the extra fat for good stuff like ice cream. Not me, I'd take milk and cheese (especially extra sharp cheddar) over ice cream any day.

The boys' have become great omelet makers, which I'm thrilled about. Especially when they make one for me!

mommy's helper

Ruby's discovered the dishwasher. It's cute most of the time, unless I turn my back for one second and she grabs the sharp knives (which happened).

Easter morning

Easter morning, we weren't prepared.

We had great intentions of starting a new tradition and making it really fun, but both Brad and I fell asleep before getting it done.

So, when the kids woke up, we told them to stay in their room until we finished.

We said, "the Easter bunny hid your baskets and told us where they are, but you need to follow the string to find them."

I got the idea from a friend and the kids really enjoyed it.

We put the kids in teams of two and Ruby just crawled around wondering what all the string was for.

Easter egg hunt

Fortunately, we have some great friends who keep the fun in our lives. Saturday evening, they invited us to their home for an "egg drop contest" and an Easter egg hunt. The boys procrastinated making their egg drop containers until minutes before we had to be there, but came up with some good ideas.

Unfortunately, Sawyer had to leave to a soccer game before his was launched, but was happy to hear he won the contest. He created a parachute with plastic grocery bags, and so his egg basically floated down each time it was thrown.

I remember doing an egg drop as an elementary school project and my dad helping me with it. The day of the event, the teachers took our eggs to the roof of the school and dropped them off. Thanks to my dad's ingenuity, my egg didn't crack.

Thank you Salins for a fun filled night.

ready or not, here she comes...

Ruby started crawling this week. At first it was two crawls forward, three crawls back, and tears. Then something clicked and she just kept moving forward. She's loving it.

I'm not ready yet. Now, I have to think about all the little things that might be on the floor, that might go into her mouth.

Sawyer's going to have to give up his morning "fire." And then there's the stairs...

Congratulations dear Ruby on your new found freedom.

little girls

We have over twenty kids on our street and most of them are girls. Lucy has all sorts of fun playing with them.

Our boys are some of the older kids in the neighborhood, but they have a group as well. Nearly every day that the weather permits, they're shooting hoops, playing soccer, baseball, football, or tag. I love it.

If it were possible, I'd have them outside all day long, every day of the year- taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. We're all happier outdoors.
